How much is the internet really worth?
As reported by the BBC, the internet has recently been found to contribute over £100 billion to the UK economy each year.
In a study commissioned by search engine giant Google, industry experts have found that online business accounts for 7.2% of the UK's entire gross domestic product (GDP).
What does this mean in real terms?
Well - if the internet was an economic sector, these results mean that it would be the UK's fifth-largest. This places it ahead of construction, utilities and transport, showing how important online activity has become for both businesses around the UK and the country's economy as a whole.
